Въ воскресенье 30 августа, Божественная литургiя была отслужена приходскимъ духовенствомъ въ Краснобреговѣ. Въ концѣ литургiи о. настоятель привѣтствовалъ отца iерея Iону и его семью, поздравляя о. Iону съ назначенiемъ въ нашъ приходъ и на должность епархiальнаго казначея. Отъ имени прихода о. Сергiй преподнесъ матушкѣ икону Ангела Хранителя, а о. Iонѣ новый подризникъ. Затѣмъ въ резеденцiи настоятеля состоялось чествованiе новаго священника и его семьи. Прихожане имѣли возможность познакомиться съ о. Iоной и матушкой Еленой. Нажмите здѣсь для фотографiй.

On Sunday, August 30, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the parish clergy in Red Bank. Upon completion of the Liturgy, the rector greeted Fr. Jonah and his family, congratulating Fr. Jonah on his assignment to our parish and appointment as diocesan treasurer. On behalf of the parish, Fr. Serge presented an icon of the Guardian Angel to Matushka, as well as a new alb for Fr. Jonah. Afterwards, a picnic in honor of the new priest and his family was held at the rector's residence. Parishioners had a chance to get to better know Fr. Jonah and Matushka Elena. Въ сей радостный день Православная церковь отмѣчаетъ двунадесятый праздникъ Успенiя Пресвятой Богородицы. Въ четвергъ 27 августа, богомольцы собрались въ св. Георгiевскомъ храмѣ на Всенощное бдѣнiе съ чиномъ погребенiя Божiей Матери. Всенощную возглавилъ настоятель прот. Сергiй въ сослуженiи iерея Iоны и дiак. Леонида. Послѣ шестопсалмiи хоръ запѣлъ дивные тропари Пресвятой Богородицѣ на напѣвъ „Благообразный Iосифъ“ и священники вынесли святую плащаницу изъ алтаря пока всѣ богомольцы стояли на колѣняхъ. Плащаница лежала въ серединѣ храма, широко украшена цвѣтами и благоухающая мvромъ. Стоя въ храмѣ рядомъ съ плащаницей, вѣрующiе переживали особую благодать Царицы небесной, которую можно лучше описать словами приснопамятнаго архiепископа Никона (Рклицкаго): „Въ Божiей Матери, какъ поется въ другомъ пѣснопѣнiи, побѣждены законы природы. Въ Ней дѣвственность привела къ рождеству и смерть къ жизни. Послѣ рождества Она осталась Дѣвой и послѣ смерти живой. Такъ что этотъ праздникъ является исполненiемъ праздника Пасхи, когда мы «смерти празднуемъ умерщвленiе и иного вѣчнаго житiя начало». Въ другомъ священномъ пѣснопѣнiи Церковь зоветъ въ этотъ день «прiидите научимся путямъ Господнимъ и спасемся спасенiемъ вѣчнымъ». Да, дѣйствительно, здѣсь мы входимъ въ соприкосновенiе и въ общенiе съ высшимъ мiромъ и съ высшей жизнью, отдѣленной отъ нашего ума и чувствъ непроницаемой стѣной, но достигаемой высшей способностью нашего духа - вѣрой и любовью. Тамъ дѣйствуютъ совсѣмъ иные законы бытiя, непостижимые нашимъ умомъ, тайна этой жизни прiоткрывается лишь въ богообщенiи черезь Церковь“.

Въ своей проповѣди о. Сергiй разсказалъ прихожанамъ о своемъ паломничествѣ въ Iерусалимъ и участiи въ торжественномъ крестномъ ходѣ съ плащаницей Божiей Матери изъ Малой Геѳсиманiи (около Гроба Господня) въ саму Геѳсиманiю на мѣсто погребенiя. Во время прикладыванiя о. Сергiй раздавалъ богомольцамъ кресты изъ Iерусалима съ сосудами Iорданской воды, Iерусалимскаго ладана и земли и также Виѳлiемскаго елея. Во время славословiе богомольцы совершили крестный ходъ вокруг храма со святой плащаницей, послѣ чего состоялась исповѣдь всего прихода на самой плащаницѣ.

Въ пятницу 28 августа, въ самый день празника, настоятель въ сослуженiи iерея Iоны и дiакона Леонида совершилъ акаѳистъ Успенiю Божiей Матери, затѣмъ и Божественную литургiю. Всѣ присутствующiе причастились Святыхъ Христовыхъ Таинъ, изъ-за чего ощущался искреннiй духъ единой православной семьи. По окончанiи Литургiи подъ колокольнымъ звономъ былъ совершенъ крестный ходъ вокругъ храма, послѣ котораго всѣ подошли на цѣлованiе креста, впервые получая благословенiе своего новаго священника о. Iоны. До отъѣзда о. Сергiй собралъ всѣхъ дѣтей-студентовъ, совершая молебенъ къ началу школьного года. Нажмите здѣсь для фотографiй праздника.

On this joyous day, the Orthodox Church marks the great feast day of the Dormition of Holy Theotokos. On Thursday, August 27, the faithful gathered at St. George's Church for the All-Night Vigil with the Burial Rite of the Mother of God. The Vigil was led by the rector, Archpriest Serge, co-served by Priest Jonah and Deacon Leonid. After the Six Psalms, the choir began to sing the wondrous troparia to the Most Holy Theotokos to the melody of "The Noble Joseph," as the priests brought out the holy shroud from the altar and the faithful stood on their knees. The shroud lay in the center of the church, beautifully adorned with flowers and smelling of sweet myrrh. Standing by the shroud, the faithful felt the special grace of the Heavenly Mother, which can be better described in the words of the ever-memorable Archbishop Nikon (Rklitsky): "In the Mother of God, as it is sung in another hymn, the laws of nature are defeated. In Her, virginity led to birth, and death to life. After giving birth, she remained a virgin, and after her death, remained alive. Thereby this feast is the fulfillment of the Paschal feast, when we 'celebrate the annihilation of death and the beginning of eternal life.' In yet another holy hymn, the Church calls out on this day, 'O come, let us learn the ways of the Lord and be saved with an eternal salvation.' Yes, truly, here we enter into contact with a higher world and a higher life, separated from from our minds and feelings by an impenetrable wall, but attainable through the higher faculties of our spirit - faith and love. There, entirely different laws of creation are at work, incomprehensible to our minds; the mystery of this life is opened only through our communication with God through the Church."

In his sermon, Fr. Serge spoke to the parishioners of his pilgrimage to Jerusalem and his having taken part in a burial procession with the shroud of the Mother of God from Little Gethsemane (near the Tomb of the Lord) to Gethsemane itself, to the place of Our Lady's burial. While the faithful venerated the shroud, Fr. Serge handed out crosses from Jerusalem with containers of water from the Jordan River, incense and soil from Jerusalem, and oil from Bethlehem. During the doxology, the faithful performed a burial procession around the church with the holy shroud, after which the whole parish was confessed on the shroud itself.

On Friday, August 28, the very day of the feast, the rector, co-served by Priest Jonah and Deacon Leonid, served an akathist to the Dormition of the Mother of God, followed by the Divine Liturgy. All those present partook of Holy Communion, which inspired a feeling of true fraternity in the church. Following the Liturgy, under the sound of pealing bells, a crucession proceeded around the church, after which all came up to kiss the Cross, receiving for the first time a blessing from their new priest, Fr. Jonah. Before everyone departed, Fr. Serge gathered all of the students in the parish and read a prayer for the beginning of the school year. Click here for photos of the feast.

Въ воскресенье 23 августа, Литургiя была отслужена въ св. Николаевскомъ храмѣ въ Краснобреговѣ. Литургiю возглавилъ протоiерей Александръ Голубовъ (клирикъ Николаевскаго Патрiаршаго Собора въ Нью-Iоркѣ) въ сослуженiи отца Леонида. О. On Sunday, August 23,the Divine Liturgy was served in St. Nicholas Church in Red Bank. The Liturgy was led by Archpriest Alexander Golubov (cleric of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York), co-served by Fr. Leonid. Fr. Serge is currently traveling to the holy city of Jerusalem, on account of the repose of Sister Magdalena, a nun of the Gethsemane Convent and a close friend. Click here for photos of the Liturgy.

Во вторникъ 19 августа, Православная церковь отмѣчаетъ двунадесятый праздникъ Преображенiя Господа, Бога и Спаса нашего Iисуса Христа. ͵͵Господь преобразился передъ избранными Своими учениками - Петромъ, Iаковомъ и Iоанномъ для того, чтобы укрѣпить ихъ вѣру въ то, что Онъ - истинный Богъ и что Онъ добровольно принимаетъ крестныя страданiя для нашего спасенiя, и для того, чтобы черезъ этихъ трехъ учениковъ сдѣлать эту вѣру достоянiемъ Своей Церкви. Въ то же время Своимъ Преображенiемъ Господь подалъ намъ примѣръ для нашего личнаго преображенiя, необходимо для вхожденiя въ Его Царствоʹʹ (Архiеп. Никонъ - проповѣдь въ день Преображенiя, 1970 г.). On Tuesday, August 19, the Orthodox Church celebrates the great feast day of the Transfiguration of our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ. "The Lord transfigured before His chosen disciples - Peter, James, and John - so that he might fortifiy their faith in Him as the true God, and in His willful sufferings on the Cross for our salvation, and so that through these three disciples he might make this faith the inheritance of His Church. At the same time, through his Transfiguration the Lord gave us an example for our own personal transfiguration, the achievement of which is necessary for our entry into His Kingdom" (Archbiship Nikon, Sermon on the Transfiguration, 1970). The Divine Liturgy was served by Fr. Serge and Fr. Leonid in St. George's Church. After the Liturgy, a crucession with the blessing of the fruits for the faithful took place. Click here for photos.

Въ пятницу 14 августа, въ первый день Успенскаго поста, Православная церковь отмѣчаетъ праздникъ Происхожденiя честныхъ древъ Животворящаго Креста, который также называется „Первый Спасъ“, „Медовый Спасъ“ или „Спасъ на водѣ“. Въ концѣ Литургiи по уставу совершается Малое Освященiе воды и также освященiя меда. Въ этотъ день пчелы прекращаютъ производить медъ и начинаютъ ѣсть свои запасы. Поэтому медъ собирается и приносится въ храмъ на освященiе въ Первый Спасъ. Вслѣдъ за Медовымъ Спасомъ слѣдуетъ Яблочный и Орѣховый, отсюда и появилось названiе „Первый“ Спасъ. Наканунѣ праздника въ св. Георгiевскомъ храмѣ были отслужены вечерня и утреня съ Выносомъ креста. Въ самый день праздника о. Сергiй отслужилъ Божественную литургiю, а также Освященiя воды и меда. Послѣ литургiи о. настоятель въ сопровожденiи о. дiакона, чт. Нектарiя, чт. Петра и А.М. Сливчука отбыли въ Сѣв. Каролину на рукоположенiе о. Iоны Кампбеллъ въ iерейскiй санъ (смотрите епархiальную страницу здѣсь). Мы ожидаемъ прiѣздъ iерея Iоны и его семьи къ празднику Успенiя. Въ воскресенье 30 августа состоится пикникъ въ резеденцiи настоятеля въ честь новопрiѣхавшаго священника и его семьи.

On Friday, August 14, on the first day of the Dormition Fast, the Orthodox Church marks the feast day of the Procession of the Life-Giving Cross, also known as the "First Savior," the "Honey Savior," or the "Savior on the Water." At the end of the Liturgy, in accordance with the Typicon, the Lesser Blessing of the Water and blessing of honey take place. On this day, bees cease their production of honey and begin to eat their reserves. Therefore, the honey is collected and brought to church for blessing on the First Feast of the Savior. On the eve of the feast, the vigil and matins with the Bringing out of the Cross were served in St. George's Church. On the day of the feast, Fr. Serge celebrated the Divine Liturgy, as well as the blessing of the water and honey. Click here to view pictures of the feast.

After the Liturgy, the rector, alongside the deacon, Reader Nektary, Reader Peter, and A.M. Slivchuk, left for North Carolina to attend the ordination of Fr. Jonah Campbell to the priesthood (see the diocesan site here). We expect the arrival of Fr. Jonah and his family before the feast of the Dormition. On Sunday, August 30, a picnic will take place at the home of the rector in honor of the newly arrived priest and his family.

Въ воскресенье 9 августа, по окончаніи Божественной литургіи, при казачемъ центрѣ состоялся ежегодный казачій пикникъ. Подъ музыкой оркестра Алексѣя Ольховскаго, казаки и другіе прихожане наслаждались шашлыкомъ, котлетами, арбузомъ и тортомъ. Во время пикника присутствующіе отмѣчали 60-лѣтній юбилей атамана ККВ Александра Михайловича Певнева и супруги его Елизаветы, 28-лѣтній юбилей настоятеля о. Сергія и мат. Любови, и 27-лѣтній юбилей старосты Iоанна Георгiевича Римакиса и супруги его Валентины, въ томъ числѣ и восьмой день рожденья Алексѣя Леонидовича Рожкова, прислужника нашихъ храмовъ. On Sunday, August 9, upon conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the annual Cossack picnic was held at the Cossack center. To the tunes of the orchestra of Alexei Olhovsky, Cossacks and other parishioners enjoyed shish kabob, kotlety, watermelon and cake. During the picnic, attendees honored the 60th wedding anniversary of the Ataman of the Kuban Voisko, Alexander Pewnew, and his wife, Elizabeth, the 28th anniversary of parish rector Fr. Serge and Matushka Lubov, and the 27th anniversary of St. George’s warden John Rimakis and his wife, Valentina, as well as the 8th birthday of Aleksei Roschko, an altar server in our churches. Дорогiе о Господѣ братiя и сестры,
Уже скоро подходитъ время для ежегоднаго приходского паломничества въ св. Троицкiй Монастырь во время американскаго праздника „Labor Day“. Въ прошломъ году наше первое паломничество прошло очень успѣшно и въ духѣ братской любви, и сумѣло объединить нашу общину. Если Богъ дастъ, въ этомъ году паломничество состоится 5-7-го сентября. Паломники будутъ участвовать въ торжественныхъ богослуженiяхъ, возглавляемыхъ Первоiерархомъ Русской Зарубежной Церкви Митрополитомъ Иларiономъ, въ сослуженiи другихъ архiереевъ и священнослужителей со всей епархiи. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The time for our annual parish pilgrimage to Holy Trinity Monastery on Labor Day weekend is quickly approaching. Our first pilgrimage last year was a great success, and it served to unite our parish in the spirit of brotherly love. God willing, our second pilgrimage will be held from September 5-7th of this year. Pilgrims will take part in the Divine Services, led by His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, who will be co-served by a multitude of clergy from throughout the diocese.
